About

May of 2004, three friends, two actors and a camera got together for a weekend and made a movie. It was such a delightful time that we decided to make it a regular event, and Weekend Shorts was born into the world.

For the entire following year, we produced a short film every month. We have produced original scripts, adapted short stories, and improvised based on group inspiration. Each film is a unique collaboration of talent and personality.

We tackle projects that can be filmed over the course of one weekend within a month, doing all writing and pre-production in the week or two prior and all editing and scoring afterwards. At the end of the month we have a screening to share the fruits of our labor.

Every month we started the process anew.

After the first year, the group grew to the point where it was getting difficult to manage and we wanted to take a break from spending our weekends managing other people. (We get more than enough of that in our working week.) We’ve continued to work on various other creative projects and often consider bringing Weekend Shorts back to life in some form or another, but it’s been having a hard time getting it’s feet off the ground again.
